It was a complete delight to see the results of many hours...months...years of fund raising for the Epsom Girls Grammar School Performing Arts Centre. It was an honour to be at the opening night, along with ex old girl Jane Phare and special guest Dame Cath Tizard. Thank you Epsom for allowing me to pursue my passion for photography (and wag the odd class).

Some of you may know I am in training to run the New York Marathon. This is very special as it is to assist Jenni McBride achieve her dream to finish this epic event in November this year. As Jenni is blind, Peter Loft (who knows I am a titch crazed) asked me to help the Achilles Foundation to help Jenni complete her mission.
As a practice run, the wonderful Nikki Sainsbury and I completed the Queenstown half marathon. Yee haa!!

Peter Loft (President of the Achilles Foundation), inspiring athlete Jenni McBride and the team of volunteers need your help! Achilles has been set up to help people with physical disabilities achieve their dreams. We are a team of 10 heading to New York and need your support. If you can help us with uniforms, running shoes, sunglasses or cash...please give me a shout.

It is that time of year again when Ernst & Young are looking for New Zealand's business heroes!! Are you one? or maybe you know one? If so, get behind the Ernst & Young NZ Entrepreneur of the Year 2005 Awards. I am always inspired by the people that are chosen.....many from small beginnings with wicked stories to tell. They are always passionate and driven to be the best, create the best and have some fun along the way.
Contact Carol Campbell on entrepreneur@nz.ey.com for more information.

Oyster Festival in Bluff is a must on any calendar. On the traditional nippy weekend (complete with horizonal sleaty rain!) hundreds gathered to see the fastest man to open several dozen oysters...pretty girls in stunning Southland outfits...the best wine the South can grow, fabulous entertainment, with the highlight being how many ways to prepare an oyster.

Wow what talent Arrowtown primary has! I was honoured to be invited to judge the children's photographic competition during the Arrowtown Autumn festival. The theme this year was "someone special in your community". There were delightful images of school friends, teachers, Mums, Dad's building the family home, a few Grandma's and even the lady at the dairy. Well done to all the children, everyone was a winner.

Many thanks to Alana and Ben for taking me on their Paraflight. I needed to photograph the Lakeside Apartments to illustrate its closeness to the lake....a Parafight was the ticket. It is a fantastic buzz, designed for all ages. You can fly tandem or solo and are suspended up to 200 meters above the lake. You get breathtaking views, with a bird like freedom. I definitely recommend you take a paraflight when next in town. Call Alana on 03 4412242. Check out www.paraflights.co.nz

Have you ever ridden the Central Otago Rail Trail?.........woo hoo it's a riot, especially with a bunch of Rotarians. Here is the team smiling despite the sore bottoms! I now own a pair of heavily padded bike pants... a must for hours of scenic peddling. In our busy lives, it is a treat to get out of the car, peddle along and take in the sounds, smells and sights....go on do it...and take your camera.

Be responsible for expressing what you need and the way you want it. Go hug someone. Hugs scattered throughout the day will help maintain a sense of well-being,belonging and self-esteem. Thoughts from "The Tiny Book of Hugs" by Kathleen Keating. I am now in Russia until June 12th. Please contact me via email. Standby for yummy European images.
