I was the luckiest to be in town when Geoff from Remarkable Vet had his clinic opened by Prime Minister Helen Clarke. It was a typical freezing July Saturday afternoon. I know the PM was very relaxed amongst the local folk and their four legged fury friends. Well done to Geoff, Diesel, Alicia and the team on an awesome performance. I trust you have been watching Sunday at 7pm on Two.

We were in full force at the recent Christchurch game, which (if you remember from your cozy lounge rooms) gave us horizontal hail and below normal temperatures!! Ah but all was forgotten as we WON. It is so great to be a kiwi when all your fellow countrymen (and women) are shouting and cheering despite having blue lips and no feeling in your fingers!

On my recent trip to Europe an outstanding memory will always be the night I convinced most of the tour to venture out (without a guide - so daring) to Red Square, Moscow. The vibe was electric. Magical moments for all, hard to describe and even trickier to photograph. It is a time like this that all there is to do is ........BE. A huge thank you to Stevie for sharing Russia with me.

What a pleasure and privilege to travel through Scandinavia and Russia last month. It was quite the life changing experience, so much history, so many incredible buildings, huge amounts of art, interesting people and many stories to tell. I will be having a "Sheena slide night” in Queenstown on Thursday 28th July and Auckland on Friday 19th August. Venues to be confirmed.

Something sassy about having uniformed guards outside your house and a flag up when you’re in residence. I am thinking of having a flag pole at my next home. I know Pinot and Cosmo are always on guard. If you tell me where I am you go into the draw for the Pinot of the month. Femail me your answers; photos@sheenahaywood.com.

It hit home the grim stuff that happened in the war. And I stand tall and say like my grandfather did, we must never have a war ever again. What a waste of energy, too many lives taken, progress is hindered. Everything can be solved in conversation. The scars run deep all through Europe. I wish Russia well on its path of healing. In time I trust they will share the freedom we enjoy in New Zealand.

I was in heaven to see the Russian Ballet. Awesome dancers, huge discipline, fabulous costumes...if I was to be picky they could do with Mary-Jane O'Reily's chorography to jazz it up a whole lot. I guess when you have been under communism rule for so long it's tricky to keep up with the rest of the world.

......when in Russia do as a Russian does, eat like a Russian and drink like a Russian too....... I did my very best to keep up on all fronts. The Champanski was delicious but Vodka for morning tea was not for me! I look forward to sharing my “From Russia with Love” stories and adventures soon.

If you’re a tiny bit into art Russia will blow your mind. The many palaces are laden full of incredible paintings, rooms and hallways full of floor to ceiling gold, delightful and delicate chandeliers everywhere. Intricate panels of stunning mosaic displays. Ceilings painted in infinite detail. Jewels and special thingies everywhere....all extremely special.

The music and dancing is also unique. So vibrant and energised. I am sure it helps to keep them warm in winter and spirits up in times of trouble. The old folk dancing skills are alive and well. We had a complete night of piano accordions and men leaping around while the women screeched and from where I sat, were in charge!
